Pierre Gasly has been restored to third place in the Monaco Grand Prix after Alpine successfully appealed against a penalty for pit-lane speeding.

The decision means Gasly keeps the podium finish he had initially lost following the original sanction. BBC Sport reported that the appeal was upheld, reversing the penalty and reinstating the French driver in third position.

Alpine appeal succeeds after Monaco penalty

Gasly’s result had been under threat after stewards penalised him for speeding in the pit lane. Alpine challenged the ruling, and the team’s appeal was successful, changing the final classification of the race.

The reinstatement is a significant outcome for Gasly and Alpine, as Monaco remains one of the most prestigious and closely watched races on the Formula 1 calendar. A podium finish in Monte Carlo carries major value for both driver and team, particularly in a season where every point matters.

What the ruling means for Gasly

With the appeal upheld, Gasly’s third place is now confirmed in the official result. The decision also closes the dispute over the pit-lane speeding penalty, at least for this event, and gives Alpine a notable success off the track as well as on it.

Gasly’s reinstated podium adds another layer to a race already shaped by tight margins and stewards’ decisions. For Alpine, the outcome underlines the importance of challenging penalties when teams believe a ruling has been applied incorrectly.

The BBC Sport report confirmed the update on 12 June 2026, with the appeal result coming 18 hours after the original publication.
